Learning the è and ê sound in French as in the word « forêt »

The image for the sound « è » and « ê » is a tree like in a forest. The sound is the same in the « ê » of the word « forêt », which helps to remind the image.

The sound of the whole word « est » (which means « is »), is the same as « è » and « ê ». The image for « est » is a forest with 3 trees, one for each letter.

The sound of the first « e » in the words « elle » and « belle » is also the same as for « é » and « ê ». The image of the tree will help you to read these words with the correct pronunciation.

Learning the ou sound in French as in the word « trou »

The image for the « ou » sound is the « trou » (a hole) underneath.

Learning the an / am / en / em sound in French as in the word « dent »

The letters d, m, and p are emphasized to make reading easier for dyslexics.

  • m has a flamingo flying over it,
  • p with its blue triangle like a slice of a pie,
  • d is filled with blue inside.

The letter q will be emphasized too (see below) when the sound is studied. So this allows to easily distinguish m from n, so as b, d, p and q, which is especially useful when learning to read with a dyslexia.

Learning the o / au / eau sound in French

The blue disc is bigger when the sound is written « eau » – with 3 letters – than when it is written « au » – with 2 letters – or just « o » with 1 letter. The sound remains exactly the same.

Learning the oi sound in French as in the word « poids »

Learning the ai / ei sound in French (same sound as è and ê in the word « forêt »)

Learning the eu sound in French as in the word « feu »

Learning the é / et / er / ez sound as in « nez » in French

The sound « é » in French is the same as in the word « et » in French. « er  » and « ez » at the end of a word are pronounced alike. The image for the sound é / et / er / ez is a « nez » (nose).
